PUBLIC SAFETY

RESTORING GOVERNMENT INTEGRITY & ACCOUNTABILITY

Crime has no place in Tarrant. As Mayor, I will focus on providing additional funding to our police department, expanding opportunities for our at-risk youth and creating a city-wide neighborhood association program. Our city must be a place where citizens feel safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and walking down the street.

Combining the Pre-Council and General Council Meetings in order to give citizens access to the decision making the process of Tarrant

No citizen should feel talked over, left out or forgotten when it comes to having input on how the city is run.  How and why decisions are made regarding the City should never be a mystery and should be discussed openly and in public. As Mayor one of the first changes I will implement would be to combine the Pre-Council Meeting with the General Council Meeting.  I believe this would provide greater transparency to would ensure that all citizens would be given the opportunity to learn how decisions are made.

Fully cooperate with all state and federal inquiries or investigation regarding the City of Tarrant

It is imperative that every citizen knows and believes that the City of Tarrant places their health and safety in the highest priority.  As Mayor, I will require all City employees and vendors to fully cooperate with all state and federal inquiries or investigations. Any employee or vendor found to be uncooperative or trying to impede or stop any inquiry or investigation will be terminated.

Institute an Open Door Policy

I firmly believe one cannot lead a City by sitting behind a desk at City Hall. As mayor I will continue community listening sessions every month, moving my way through the entire city every year, meeting people in casual settings right in their own neighborhoods.

I will post my calendar daily and maintain an open-door policy: people have a right to know whom their Mayor is meeting with and why, no exceptions. And if I’m available in the office when you stop in, I will welcome you in for a conversation.

ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION

We know all too well how other cities have fallen behind growth, let down their residents, and tried to change course with too little, too late. I strongly believe it’s not too late for Tarrant. Our best days are still ahead of us if we revitalize our city.
